ABOUT:

I'm always looking for old cut diamonds in gold settings and this one is an all original antique. Crafted in 18k gold, I love the combination of this stone and in this setting. It has a sturdy knife edge shank with domed shoulders leading up to the .65 carat prong set old Mine cut diamond, the sleek and elegant setting is completely timeless, making it the perfect stacker.

So rather than having the diamond perched on top of the band, the shoulders extend up to the top of the stone, where the prong setting is almost nested within them if that makes sense.

It's a fabulous stone, almost rectangular with the oblong cushion cut facing up bright and eye clean. A unique and interest hand cut stone. Can't find these in the modern, mass produced market!

The prongs appear excellent, making this beauty appropriate and ready for daily wear.

Found in France, but no hallmarks remain which is common for French pieces due to where they mark pieces, they can be lost from wear or a sizing. Sold to me as 18k which is the standard there and tested to confirm. I can actually see the old / original countertrike on the inside of the shank indicating where the hallmark would have been but it is just a shallow faint mark there now, not legible or really visible. The gold has a lovely patina with a slightly rosy hue.

Antique box not included. Please note the measurements as I have small fingers and it can be difficult to determine scale from pictures.

SIZE & MEASUREMENTS:
Size 6 1/2 on my mandrel, should be sizable to a decent extent with the prongs in such great shape, best to discuss with the person doing the work to determine their comfort level as to how far. It stands 5mm tall off the finger. The ring shoulders are 2.7mm at their widest. It weighs 2.5 grams.

I do not remove my stones from their antique settings for exact measurements but the diamond measures about 5.6mm and an estimated weight of almost 0.65 carat.

IMPORTANT CONDITION NOTES:
All antique hand cut diamonds of course have a more limited supply since they are no longer made in this way. There are only so many in existence compared to the millions of carats of modern machine cut diamonds made every year. These have withstood the test of time. This one is better than most, eye clean, bright in color and set in sturdy prongs. Only the tiniest specks seen under very strong magnification so it is a very clear and bright stone, exceptional for an antique. No damage to the stone. The prong setting also helps to allow the stone to catch the light from the north and south angles. Faint evidence of a sizing.

My items do very well without paperwork so I have not sent the stone for certification but always provide as much detail as possible with measurements, condition notes and many extra photos (see website) to capture it true to life in various lighting conditions, which can be translated to grading scales if desired.

Ready for daily wear which is hard to find in antiques. It's beautiful.

Please note that all my pieces are pre-owned and in estate condition. They will have patina, surface wear, a few small nicks. These pieces may also have evidence of a sizing, some build up around the stones and / or inclusions seen under magnification, typical for antique pieces. I have mentioned any noticeable issues above and they are all still wearable and eager to be loved and accepted for many years to come, (the preservation of antique jewelry, even those with signs of their age and history, is important to me. : )
But - Please note due to age, this piece is not in mint condition. Pictures also serve as part of the description and condition report so please utilize the zoom feature which will magnify any wear significantly more than what is visible to the eye while wearing : )
