ABOUT:

My favorite stone in all the world - the Perpignan garnet! These special jewels are trademarked and made only in that area of Catalonia France. There have only ever been a small handful of makers in all the world at a time that were trained in the multi step process of creating these special pieces.

This is a vintage (or older) piece I purchased when I visited Perpignan, the day I went to the jewelry exposition / display - (feel free to ask me about this, I have tons of information about them I can share but don't want to overwhelm the listing). I am only not keeping it because I already have one - ; ).

This one is definitely not modern era or newly made, it has the color of the older made pieces but I am just not seeing enough wear and patina to the gold work to say confidently that it is antique (mine has dings and dents all over the collet backs whereas this one, the gold work is still in excellent condition). Even meeting with experts while in Perpignan, I was told that it can be really difficult to know for sure, and the French don't use date specific hallmarks so I am selling it as vintage to be safe, which it is definitely at least that.

The colors this one possesses are a richer red hue, with just a bit of a pink inner glow. While some Perpignan garnets are more of a purplish pink berry color, this one is a gorgeous glowing red, crimson with red rose flashes from within. It's overcast here in Minnesota today so it isbn't doing the colors justice but I took some videos of it while in France so feel free to check my website, instagram or contact me to see more!

Note that these can roll around on the wrist, which I also find fun because the gold domed back of the bezel settings are beautiful in themselves! Lovely to roll around in a wriststack!

French stamps for 18k on the loops. They also look older with some wear.

Please note the measurements as I have small fingers and it can be difficult to determine scale from pictures. Antique box is not included.

MEASUREMENTS:
Seems to be about 7 inches, I can't open it to stretch it end to end so that's just me awkwardly trying to wrap a tape measure around it : ). I think it fits a bit more snugly than that with the chunky bezels. I have a 5.5 inch wrist and it's too big for me with room to spare, but it wouldn't fall off without opening it. Because it has a spring ring you could add an extender and you can also remove a gemset link - this is what I did with mine and gave them as charms to my nieces. : )

Each stone is about 8.5mm and 6.2mm deep with the domed backs.

It weighs 13.5 grams.

IMPORTANT CONDITION NOTES:

Some patina but this one was well cared for, with a nice sheen and polish overall and a beautiful color and glow. No chips or cracks, no cloudiness. No deep dings or dents, just a nibble or nick here or there.

These pieces may also have evidence of a sizing, some build up around the stones and / or inclusions seen under magnification, typical for antique pieces. I have mentioned any noticeable issues above and they are all still wearable and eager to be loved and accepted for many years to come, (the preservation of antique jewelry, even those with signs of their age and history, is important to me. : )
