ABOUT:

Beautiful Georgian era antique Iberian 18k gold and natural emerald pendant with 39 table cut vibrant to pale green emeralds in closed back domed settings. This was originally a brooch that had been converted to a pendant. Beautiful coloring and rich, buttery gold patina. I actually suspect the gold is 19k, one of the standards there during the period, but I don't have a test for that.

I love that the piece is composed of three separate parts, attached by loops so that each can move independently for a beautiful dangling effect to catch the light. The center component resembles a beautiful flourished bow with teardrop shapes above and below. Great antique look to this large, striking piece.

Chain is not included, it is a modern costume chain from Target that I use for staging : )

MEASUREMENTS:

58mm (or 2.3 inches) top to bottom. 33mm (or 1.3 inch) wide. It weighs a sturdy 7 grams.

IMPORTANT CONDITION NOTES:

All my pieces are pre-owned and in estate condition. Very old piece but all 39 of the stones are original and present. There is some solder to the back where the pin was connected to create the loop. There are some shallow impressions and ripples on the back. The gold work on the front is fabulous with no issues to report.

The emeralds all have natural inclusions. Several of them have nicks, chips, shallow flakes of loss, an uneven edge here or there, from wear to the piece over 250 years old. They are all complete to the eye, secure in the bezels and none are cracked, but you can see the wear to some of the facet edges and surfaces when you study them in a reflection.

Still an amazing historic piece with beautiful coloring and design, worthy of a collection - (the preservation of antique jewelry, even those with signs of their age and history, is important to me. : ) .
