ABOUT:

Classic and versatile antique Victorian five stone old mine cut diamond band from 1888. I try to acquire as many as I can because they are so stackable and wearable that they are always very popular. This one is a just right footprint with about 1.5 carat total in old mine cut diamonds.

In glowing 18k gold with scrolled shoulders holding five old mine cut diamonds that graduate in size. The stones have the delicious pale yellow warmth in some light that antique diamond enthusiasts like myself seek out. Again appropriate for the period because they came from mines that produced warmer colored rough. And of course these were produced in a much more limited supply compared to the millions of carats of machine cut diamonds produced each year now.

Antique box not included. Please note the measurements as I have small hands and it can be difficult to decipher scale from photos.

HALLMARKS:
Found in England, with hallmarks for 18k, London, date stamp 1888.

SIZE & MEASUREMENTS:

Size 6
Exact carat weight is unknown as I would not remove the stones but estimates to around 1.5 carat.
The center stone is 4.8mm and about .44, then two at 4.2mm and the end stones at 3.5mm, varying depths some chunkier than average.
Stands 4.4mm off the finger, 5.2mm north to south and 17mm east west for all five diamonds.

IMPORTANT CONDITION NOTES:

All my pieces are pre-owned and in estate condition. A worn prong here or there but this one has been reinforced. I applaud the goldsmith because they didn't attempt to make it like new, but made sure each stone is held on all sides. Typical antique diamonds with some faint natural inclusions - mostly small frosty spots. Some are eye clean, one of the smallest end stones has a smattering of carbon specks and an indented natural inclusion at the surface but again - Only slightly eye visible and seen mostly under magnification. Beautiful warmth to pale yellow to the stones that accentuates in some light, contributed to by the glowing gold setting, but then faces up brighter in other lighting conditions. Please note that all my pieces are pre-owned and in estate condition. They will have patina, surface wear, a few small nicks. These pieces may also have evidence of a sizing, some build up around the stones and / or inclusions seen under magnification, typical for antique pieces. I have mentioned any noticeable issues above and they are all still wearable and eager to be loved and accepted for many years to come, (the preservation of antique jewelry, even those with signs of their age and history, is important to me. : )
But - Please note due to age, this piece is not in mint condition. Pictures also serve as part of the description and condition report so please utilize the zoom feature which will magnify any wear significantly more than what is visible to the eye while wearing : )
