ABOUT:

This skinny navette makes a fun geometric stacker. The scalloped ring face holds five stones, 3 rose cut sapphires at the center and two rose cut diamonds, one on each end in graduating sizes. I purchased this in Barcelona.

Looking inside the ring face it appears the piece once had a closed and foiled back that has since by opened to let the light pass through. It was like this when I purchased it and this is one type of alteration that does not bother me when it comes to antiques, because removing the closed backs can often brighten the stones considerably in addition to making the piece easier to wear as it can get wet and be cleaned more easily.

Found in Spain.

No hallmarks remain but sold to me as 18k and tested to confirm. It has a rich warmth to it from age and patina.

Please note the measurements as I have small fingers and it can be difficult to determine scale from pictures. Antique box is not included.

MEASUREMENTS:
Size 5 3/4
The ring face is about 18x4mm. The stones are 1.5 to 3mm each.
It weighs 1.6 grams.

IMPORTANT CONDITION NOTES:

All the stones appear a bit frosty. The sapphires are clearer but have a few faint abrasions. The rose cuts on the end are smaller and frosty rough cuts all the way through appearing more gray in color. There is a bit of discoloration at the shoulders, with darker patina, appears to be solder seen when you turn the ring and study it from the side. The shank is a little bit out of round but seems to wear just fine.

These pieces may also have evidence of a sizing, some build up around the stones and / or inclusions seen under magnification, typical for antique pieces.
