ABOUT:

Always nice to find domed rose cuts with open backs making them easier to wear, you can wash your hands, clean them, and enjoy the simpler faceting. This turn of the century to early 1900s ring makes a great stacker layering well with gold bands. It also has a nice disco ball sparkle to wear it alone.

These are fiery rose cuts as well, shooting little rainbows visible to the eye! Also uncommon to find in antique stones these have a really excellent clarity, eye clean with no carbon or spots.

Found in Barcelona, Spain. No hallmarks remain but sold to me as 18k which is the standard there and tested to confirm.

Please note the measurements as I have small fingers and it can be difficult to determine scale from pictures. Antique box is not included.

MEASUREMENTS:
Size 6 3/4
5.1mm north south and 4.1mm tall.
It weighs 2.1 grams.
Center stone is 4.5mm, the others are 4.2mm, all have a nice dome and not super thinly sliced like many of the disk like rose cuts. Like most rose cuts, they are spreadier with a lower carat weight than stones with pavilions - these facing up similar to a size .35 / .28 carat each brilliant cut.

IMPORTANT CONDITION NOTES:

The center diamond has nibbles to the girdle around much of the stone. The top side has a nice dome and polish but there are some tiny chips to the girdle and shallow flakes of loss to the underside right at the edges. Some of this is less noticeable because it is right up against the bezel which surrounds the stone, but under magnification you can see the unevenness and a bit of a frosty halo looking through the stone. They have an excellent fire and clarity. One of the end stones has an indented natural inclusion that appears as a frosty speck under magnification. You can also see some slight gaps because the stones don't perfectly match the shape of the circular bezels, having been hand cut. One of the end stones teeters slightly in the bezel but some little tiny bead prongs were added to make sure it can't slip from the bezel. Slight warmth also typical for the period under magnification, nothing major or glaring with normal wear.
