ABOUT:

NOTE that the "divot" to the band on the side of the shank is Not damage - it is the French hallmark strike for platinum so the piece is not damaged but intentionally marked on the vertical edge.

Wonderful old cut diamond full eternity band in platinum. This French antique piece is set with 1 1/3 carat old mine and old single cut diamonds totaling around 1.33 carat. Sturdy hand feel, nice sparkle all around. These are always super popular.

The stones are a mix of old mine cuts with larger culets, and old single cuts, which are also antique and from the same period. The latter with less facets, but still being old hand cuts with the faceting of course more freeform and different from the modern machine cut single cuts we see today. Two of the diamonds are replacement brilliant cuts, in the same area one stone apart from each other, but they do not jump out much, as I noticed the more under magnification.

Found in France. The French hallmark strike for platinum is partial but I've seen it a million times so it is recognizable to me. There is also a goldsmith stamp and counterstrike on the other side.

Antique box not included. Please note the measurements as I have small fingers and it can be difficult to determine scale from pictures.

SIZE & MEASUREMENTS:

Size 6 1/4, not sizable. It goes a little over on the ring sizer mandrel but the center of the band does not cross the 6 1/2 so it sits right between those. The band is 3.1mm wide north south with a depth of about 2 to 2.4.mm depending on the diamonds where measured as the depths vary. It weighs 3.7g
Each of the 22 diamonds is about 2.3 to 2.5mm. Varying depths to the stones. I would never remove them to ascertain exact carat weight but estimated around 1 1/3 carat / 1.33ctw in diamonds.

IMPORTANT CONDITION NOTES:

Typical antique diamonds, some eye clean, others with faint natural inclusions, some a bit frosty, a small carbon speck here or there and one spot, but the stones aren't that big so it is not glaringly eye visible. A few with warm hues. Nice sparkle and sturdy shank. The prongs actually look quite good although I always recommend gentler wear on antique pieces with so many stones set with little bead prongs, and with eternities having part of the ring come into contact with surfaces on the palm side of the hand, it's something to keep an eye on. Surprisingly, considering this, there is little damage in the way of chipped or cracked stones that we often see on pieces of this age. As mentioned two stones are replacements. A few small nicks to the vertical edges and some deeper scratches / tool marks in one spot to the left of the hallmarks.

Please note that all my pieces are pre-owned and in estate condition. They will have patina, surface wear, a few small nicks. These pieces may also have evidence of a sizing, some build up around the stones and / or inclusions seen under magnification, typical for antique pieces. I have mentioned any noticeable issues above and they are all still wearable and eager to be loved and accepted for many years to come, (the preservation of antique jewelry, even those with signs of their age and history, is important to me. : )
But - Please note due to age, this piece is not in mint condition. Pictures also serve as part of the description and condition report so please utilize the zoom feature which will magnify any wear significantly more than what is visible to the eye while wearing : )
