ABOUT:
So I am quite the sentimentalist when it comes to antique jewelry, if you follow me, that may be stating the obvious : ). So I originally planned to sell this and another band as a joint pair sold together. I acquired both rings in the same grouping of French antique dated wedding bands. However, as I studied them, I noticed the slightest differences in the engravings.

We see these as a set of initials given "to" ("a" in French) another set of initials. A matching pair would have the same two sets of initials but in reverse.

This one reads:
TR (or JR?) a JG - meaning first set of initials GR given "to" the second set of initials.
29 Avril 1909 (French for April 29, 1909).

The other one I have has the same date, which is why I thought they were a married pair. But the engraving style and the patina is a bit different and while the letters / initals are close, they are not a right match.
This second one reading:
GR a JG (or TG?)
but again with the same French date.

So I'm stumped because the first letter of the one ring is definitely the letter G, but for the second ring, even though the date is the same, neither of the sets of initials starts with the letter G.

What a mystery! So... since I can't guarantee they are a married pair, since the initials don't quite match up, I am selling them individually. My Nancy Drew / Carmen Sandiego alter ego was quite disappointed when I couldn't figure out why the initials just don't match up. Maybe the engraver made a mistake? I still believe they are likely a matching pair with some story behind the engraving, but as I cannot prove that and the initials are slightly different, I am selling them individually.

Anyway, this is the slightly smaller of the two. Elegant worn alone, a great stacker band or "something old," it feels wonderful on the hand with its age of 116 years.

Found in France, no hallmarks remain but sold to me from a reputable source as 18k which is the standard in France and tested to confirm.

Antique box is not included. Please note the measurements as I have small fingers and it can be difficult to determine scale from pictures.

depth / Height off the finger: 1.8mm

IMPORTANT CONDITION NOTES:

Surface wear as expected. This one was sized and has a slightly different hue with two solder bubbles at the small joining spot. Not glaring, I would just wear that part to the back.

Please note that all my pieces are pre-owned and in estate condition. They will have patina, surface wear, a few small nicks. These pieces may also have evidence of a sizing, some build up around the stones and / or inclusions seen under magnification, typical for antique pieces. I have mentioned any noticeable issues above and they are all still wearable and eager to be loved and accepted for many years to come, (the preservation of antique jewelry, even those with signs of their age and history, is important to me. : )
But - Please note due to age, this piece is not in mint condition. Pictures also serve as part of the description and condition report so please utilize the zoom feature which will magnify any wear significantly more than what is visible to the eye while wearing : )
