ABOUT:

My favorite stone in all the world - the Perpignan garnet! These special jewels are trademarked and made only in that area of Catalonia France. There have only ever been a small handful of makers in all the world at a time that were trained in the multi step process of creating these special pieces. Right now there are about a dozen in France that know the secrets to fabricating these. I met the maker of this one and toured their workshop.

This is a brand new piece I purchased when I visited them in Perpignan, that day I went to the jewelry exposition / display - (feel free to see my Instagram or ask me about this, I have tons of information about them I can share but don't want to overwhelm the listing). I don't really ever buy new jewelry but the shape and color with the inner flash, plus being right there in Perpignan and meeting the master craftsman, it's just something I wanted to buy for the shop.

These pieces are just so special and so unique, specific to the region in France where they were traditionally passed down from mothers to daughters as a symbol of pride of their Catalonian heritage. Symbols of pride and highly collectible to jewelry enthusiasts as much as ever today!

French hallmarks on the back for 18k, it is partial but decipherable and the maker.

Please note the measurements as I have small fingers and it can be difficult to determine scale from pictures. Antique box is not included.

MEASUREMENTS:
Size 7 1/4 .
The garnet is about 13x7mm and 4.6mm tall off the finger.

It weighs 2.3 grams.

IMPORTANT CONDITION NOTES:

I only wore it a few times while traveling in Spain and France so it is pretty much good as new. We don't recommend getting rings with closed back settings wet.

Please note that all my pieces are pre-owned and in estate condition. They will have patina, surface wear, a few small nicks. These pieces may also have evidence of a sizing, some build up around the stones and / or inclusions seen under magnification, typical for antique pieces. I have mentioned any noticeable issues above and they are all still wearable and eager to be loved and accepted for many years to come, (the preservation of antique jewelry, even those with signs of their age and history, is important to me. : )
But - Please note due to age, this piece is not in mint condition. Pictures also serve as part of the description and condition report so please utilize the zoom feature which will magnify any wear significantly more than what is visible to the eye while wearing : )
