Note this is a single earring, I do not have a pair. I bought it as a single for the beautiful diamond thinking it could we worn in a mix and match situation or the diamond in prong setting could also be converted to a lovely pendant if desired!

Timeless antique old mine cut diamond stud earring in 18k gold. The buttercup type settings holds a chunky 0.6 carat freeform elongated old mine cut diamond. It appears like a cushion cut in the setting but under magnification is somewhat egg shaped, a beautiful hand cut stone. I love old stones like these with so many quirks and so much character. This one possesses the most beautiful pale yellow color and is eye clean.

Also beautiful that this one is entirely in yellow gold - often times we see the prongs in a white precious metal as was customary for the period to set diamonds in a white metal. The setting serves as a bit of an illusion setting with the prongs surround adding size to the diamonds.

Found in France, the push back is stamped 750 - the numerical hallmarking system used in Europe for 18k gold. The ear post also has a faint hallmark remaining but I can't decipher it.

Antique boxes / items in displays in photos are not included.

MEASUREMENTS:
The diamond is about 5 by 4.7mm with a carat weight of about 0.6ctw. This is an estimate as I do not remove stones from antique settings for exact measurements and I could not get an exact depth on the stone as it is set. The face of the earring with the prongs and outline is 6.8mm.
It weighs 1.1 grams.

IMPORTANT CONDITION NOTES:

Eye clean diamond with the most wonderful color, it lights up more yellow in direct sunlight and has a lovely warmth in ambient light. Love stones like these. No damage, a beautiful and unique hand cut stone with all the characteristics that go with that - a bit free form in shape, unpolished girdle with varying widths, etc.

The prongs look excellent so it is ready for regular wear.

Please note that all my pieces are pre-owned and in estate condition. They will have patina, surface wear, a few small nicks. These pieces may also have evidence of a sizing, some build up around the stones and / or inclusions seen under magnification, typical for antique pieces. I have mentioned any noticeable issues above and they are all still wearable and eager to be loved and accepted for many years to come, (the preservation of antique jewelry, even those with signs of their age and history, is important to me. : )
But - Please note due to age, this piece is not in mint condition. Pictures also serve as part of the description and condition report so please utilize the zoom feature which will magnify any wear significantly more than what is visible to the eye while wearing : )
