ABOUT:

My favorite stone in all the world - the Perpignan garnet! These special jewels are trademarked and made only in that area of Catalonia France. There have only ever been a small handful of makers in all the world at a time that were trained in the multi step process of creating these special pieces.

This is an antique one I purchased when I visited Perpignan, the day I went to the jewelry exposition / display - (feel free to ask me about this, I have tons of information about them I can share but don't want to overwhelm the listing). This one is teardrop in shape which we love to find, leading to a little circular garnet and a little forked gold detail.

Sweet little charm or pendant with deep crimson color and a lighter rose red glow from within.

You could add it to an earring, bracelet or necklace chain.

This is an older one with antique patina to the gold. These pieces are just so special and so unique, specific to the region in France where they were passed down from mothers to daughters as a symbol of pride of their Catalonian heritage. Symbols of pride and highly collectible to antique jewelry enthusiasts as much as ever today!

The loop was reinforced so while we can still see some tooling, there are no decipherable hallmarks, but these are always crafted in 18k gold, the standard in France.

Please note the measurements as I have small fingers and it can be difficult to determine scale from pictures. Antique box is not included.

MEASUREMENTS:
Top to bottom dangle is 24mm not including the dangling bale. 7mm wide.

It weighs 1.4 grams.

IMPORTANT CONDITION NOTES:

Some patina to the gold and the repair to the loop which has a different patina. Gorgeous glowing red color but there are abrasions around the outside edge, nibbles and nicks. The rich color helps mask the wear and it doesn't appear too dull overall, but some frosty facets and it isn't as glossy sheen or sparkly as some of the other ones I brought back so it is priced accordingly. There is loss to one area of the bezel where the gold has worn back. It appears as an interruption to the pattern but the stone is still encased. Still very wearable and special!

Please note that all my pieces are pre-owned and in estate condition. They will have patina, surface wear, a few small nicks. These pieces may also have evidence of a sizing, some build up around the stones and / or inclusions seen under magnification, typical for antique pieces. I have mentioned any noticeable issues above and they are all still wearable and eager to be loved and accepted for many years to come, (the preservation of antique jewelry, even those with signs of their age and history, is important to me. : )
But - Please note due to age, this piece is not in mint condition. Pictures also serve as part of the description and condition report so please utilize the zoom feature which will magnify any wear significantly more than what is visible to the eye while wearing : )
