My favorite stone in all the world - the Perpignan garnet! I still have a few more to release from my trip. These special jewels are trademarked and made only in that area of Catalonia France. There have only ever been a small handful of makers in all the world at a time that were trained in the multi step process of creating these special pieces. Right now there are about a dozen in France that know the secrets to fabricating these.

This is an antique one. Uncommon with the marquise shaped stone in the scalloped bezel which is then flanked by a rose cut diamond on each side. An older one that is purple color with a lighter pink reflection from within. (Gah! These stones are so fabulous!) The setting is closed back although looking inside the ring face, there is open space behind it.

These pieces are just so special and so unique, specific to the region in France where they were traditionally passed down from mothers to daughters as a symbol of pride of their Catalonian heritage. Symbols of pride and highly collectible to jewelry enthusiasts as much as ever today!

No hallmarks remain which is common for French pieces but sold to me as 18k from a jeweler and the standard is 18k there, I also tested to confirm.

Please note the measurements as I have small fingers and it can be difficult to determine scale from pictures. Antique box is not included.

MEASUREMENTS:
Size 5 1/2 .
The garnet is about 9x4mm in the bezel setting.

It weighs 2.65 grams.

IMPORTANT CONDITION NOTES:
A few small nibbles to the stone but still a nice sheen and polish, amazing color (these somehow sparkle) and the foil still reflects the light from within.
The rose cuts are in closed back settings and are warm in color and rough cut but they are small so just adds a glint of sparkle. Sturdy setting, ready for wear although we avoid getting these wet as we don't want the foil to get too spotted. The color of the stone would help mask this but still...

Please note that all my pieces are pre-owned and in estate condition. They will have patina, surface wear, a few small nicks. These pieces may also have evidence of a sizing, some build up around the stones and / or inclusions seen under magnification, typical for antique pieces. I have mentioned any noticeable issues above and they are all still wearable and eager to be loved and accepted for many years to come, (the preservation of antique jewelry, even those with signs of their age and history, is important to me. : )
But - Please note due to age, this piece is not in mint condition. Pictures also serve as part of the description and condition report so please utilize the zoom feature which will magnify any wear significantly more than what is visible to the eye while wearing : )
