ABOUT:

Eye catching stud earrings in a larger size. Each holds a juicy red and glowing garnet that are a glossy cabochon cut with flat backs and highly domed tops. On each of the four sides are ornate fleur de lis prongs holding the large stones in place with the added design element.

Crafted in 14k gold, the push backs are a later replacement but I believe the settings and stones are older. The garnets were hand cut with a slightly oblong shape which I love to see as an indicator that they are older fabrication.

The stones have the most beautiful color and reflect flashes of raspberry and burgundy wine colors from the back. Beautiful buttery antique gold patina with beautiful shine. When I hold them up to the light, the hues of the natural garnets are slightly different, one a deeper red with the color a bit more dense, and the other a slightly lighter purplish hue with more transparency. This is not really noticeable while wearing on different sides of the head, and not even very noticeable right side by side unless in direct light. The colors are fabulous and I love the natural variations.

Antique box used for staging is not included. Please note the measurements as I have small hands and it can be difficult to decipher scale from photos.

HALLMARKS:
The later push backs are stamped for 14k. The settings test a little higher carat gold.

SIZE & MEASUREMENTS:

They are a nice size, measuring 16mm by 12mm by 9mm. Combined weight is 8.1 grams so they are a heavier / large stud.

IMPORTANT CONDITION NOTES:

A few nicks, nibbles and natural inclusions that can sometimes catch the light. The girdle / base rim of the garnets have some tiny chips and nibbles but appear complete to the eye while wearing. One stone moves a bit in the prongs but the prongs come up and around the edge of the stones so with normal wear the stone is not in danger of coming free. One earring post slightly leans but does not affect how they wear. I didn't want to attempt bending in for fear of the gold snapping.

Please note that all my pieces are pre-owned and in estate condition. They will have patina, surface wear, a few small nicks. These pieces may also have evidence of a sizing, some build up around the stones and / or inclusions seen under magnification, typical for antique pieces. I have mentioned any noticeable issues above and they are all still wearable and eager to be loved and accepted for many years to come, (the preservation of antique jewelry, even those with signs of their age and history, is important to me. : )
But - Please note due to age, this piece is not in mint condition. Pictures also serve as part of the description and condition report so please utilize the zoom feature which will magnify any wear significantly more than what is visible to the eye while wearing : )

Please also note that I take some photos / videos in the sunshine because it captures the lovely color and sparkle, but it also highlights any surface wear, scratches, abrasions, buildup or inclusions that can catch the light, making these things appear worse than they would with normal day to day wear. : ) Hopefully the pics in all lightning conditions help as they serve as part of the description.
