I am back from my inventory trips to Europe and selling an assortment of vintage to antique hand picked pieces which I have hunted for and gathered from around the world. Some examples seen in the last photo - thanks for stopping by!

ABOUT:

How sweet is this antique chain! A rare and beautiful French antique piece from the Victorian era to layer or wear alone. It is crafted with a fine mesh tube sort of link with lots of tiny little loops interlocked and then that wonderful design with applied heart shaped cutouts on one side. We usually see these with applied circles - I love the heart detail! And even the ones with circles are hard to come by considering age.

This piece is crafted in 18k solid gold, which has a rich warm antique patina. The 3D mesh chain provides a lovely texture while the hearts are shiny so they catch the light and shimmer as the chain moves. Very old and special fabrication to this one. I'm thrilled to see that it has held up with the delicate yet stable links and nary a heart is missing!

Purchased in France, it came out of Paris. French control hallmark on the loop used on 18k gold. Antique boxes / any additional items in displays in photos are not included. Please note the measurements as I have small fingers and it can be difficult to determine scale from pictures.

MEASUREMENTS:
It weighs 10.6g. Stretched end to end it's a little under 17 inches. The chain links are about 3mm wide. The thickness / depth of the mesh tube is 2.5mm.

IMPORTANT CONDITION NOTES:

Please note that all my pieces are pre-owned and in estate condition. Rich antique patina that has warmed the 18k gold - the hearts have a beautiful shimmer. It's likely the mesh would brighten with a cleaning but most of my buyers prefer original patina and I wasn't keen on having moisture trapped in between the links so I just gave it a light wipe. Considering age and intricate fabrication - There is a break to the top part of the chain right at the clasp at the back, very tidily done but has a gold strap in that one spot leaving a small section of missing or unconnected links between two hearts. When the clasp is inserted, the tongue of the insert fills this gap making it less visible and the chain is still perfectly stable because all the bottom links are connected and intact. One should just use a gentle hand though when it comes to pulling on it but nothing will occur with normal wear. This would not be very noticeable if at all while wearing because it's at the back. The other thing to note there though is to be sure to guide the tongue of the clasp into the center of the chain, vs. having the tongue insert come up through the hole to the gold as that makes it more visible if that makes sense. Aside from that there are several shallow ripples to the chain. The intricate little loops are slightly springy when you pull the piece end to end but the little crimps show so it doesn't always lay perfectly... it lays like an antique chain! Beautiful antique look. Special fabrication but does have evidence of age.

Please note that all my pieces are pre-owned and in estate condition. They will have patina, surface wear, a few small nicks. These pieces may also have evidence of a sizing, some build up around the stones and / or inclusions seen under magnification, typical for antique pieces. I have mentioned any noticeable issues above and they are all still wearable and eager to be loved and accepted for many years to come, (the preservation of antique jewelry, even those with signs of their age and history, is important to me. : )
But - Please note due to age, this piece is not in mint condition. Pictures also serve as part of the description and condition report so please utilize the zoom feature which will magnify any wear significantly more than what is visible to the eye while wearing : )
